My liege Count Albert III of Gorizia,

On this day, the 13th of March in the year of our lord 1358, I must humbly beseach you to honour the last will and testament of the woodcutter Arbun. This wish was made known to his bunk mates several months ago during the recent harsh winter, though it was only communicated to me this very morning as the men have now returned.

Arbun's family was granted the right to farm for their own sustinence, and a tax of 40% of gross product at the peasant's small holding of West-reach. The property has been abandoned for some 6 years now following the death of Arbun's wife and requires significant repairs. The taxation yield according to the records from this hovel is in the region of 1 basket of apples, 2 baskets of cabbages, 2 baskets of turnips per year and 1 urn of goatsmilk, 3 eggs, 1 handle of assorted berries and wild fruits per week.

Arbun's wish is that the rights to this land be passed down to his cousin Karl who is himself in his latter years. Karl however has two grandchildren, Rhuben is a strong boy of 7 years and will grow to make a good farmer. There is also a girl called Sophia of 5 years.

The transmission of this according to the current terms will be until the death of the last heir of Rhuben, or Sophia should she bear boy children.
your humble servant Harold, squire to the Justicar
